Would you hang short curtains in a room in your home?
Natalie from Natty by Design did, and they add just the right amount of color and fun to her daughter's room!
To see more fantastic rooms in which short curtains are used with success, read "Trend Alert: The Long and Short of It" in the Fall issue of House of Fifty, beginning on page 20. Emily A. Clark writes a fun piece that explains what type of rooms short drapes look best in!
Here's my rule on that: Kids rooms, craft rooms and bathrooms can have short curtains. Adults rooms need long ones. Why? I think they seem playful and fun (and I really hate long curtains in a bathroom. I grosses me out) or maybe I just like to make arbitrary rules for myself... yeah that could be it.
ReplyDeleteI think you are on to something with your rule Maury! And Emily's tips pretty much fall in line in her article, with a couple twists.

I agree with Maury- kids rooms, play rooms. And it saves on $$$ when you chose shorter ones-and with kids rooms they usually change styles/colors as they grow so it makes more sense. Even though I just purchased full length drapery for my daughters room. LOL
ReplyDeleteGood rule to follow! I am loving the fabric in the post! I need it now!

Not in my home, but I can see some areas in others homes where they might be more practical. If and when I do a window treatment it is too the floor, it just looks more finished to me. Kathysue
ReplyDeleteThanks for the love, Janell!

I'm definitely putting some in my kitchen!!! Natty's look great!
ReplyDeleteLOVE THESE! I'm going to be making my own version for cafe curtains in the kitchen!
ReplyDeleteNatalie's fabric is perfect for this! So cute.
ReplyDelete(And, I totally agree with the comment about long curtains in the bathroom. Have never seen this but it would definitely be gross!) :)
I love the pattern! And yes, if the windows were short (typically 60-70's ranches) I would hang short curtains.
ReplyDeleteThe latest g trend alert is that there are short curtains in vogue now. Read to know more
