Color is all the rage this season in coats. After I discovered the unused JCrew gift card while organizing the piles of paper in the bonus room, my reward for completing the task was a trip to this store to see just how I could spend my newly found loot! On some color perhaps?
I didn't end up finding anything I just HAD to have, so my gift card is safe for another day. However, I did get inspiration on how to update my "in perfect condition" black JCrew coat purchased a few years ago.
(Which looks nearly identical to the above style being sold this season!)
Along with color, gold buttons are being seen everywhere...and this is something I can easily add to mine!
Luckily I just happened to have several left over from my fashion design days.
I love their "nearly too large" style, giving my "old" coat a fun new style for the season!

I love the subtle yet such fresh and beautiful update. Enjoy your "New" coat :)
I do that, too!!! Sometimes the buttons cost more than the jacket. Really gives "the costume" a boost. franki
Great idea! It's like having a new coat now!
Great idea...I need to get into my closet and do some work. Have a nice weekend. Mona
Great idea! As much as I hate sewing, even buttons, I'm inspired to check my coat closet now :)

perfect easy project with a big impact! Thanks for sharing the idea - I might just have to try that this year ;)
Oh you are a smart gal!
Really good looking. I have a longer coat too. Wonder if I would be crazy to raise the hem to say a car coat length?
It's sooooo long, and warm and great for walking but sitting or even worse, driving, I feel like I have a beadspread wrapped around me. Must look online for some buttons too.

It is fascinating by how these buttons can make your garment more trendy, eh? I did the same with my black coat, only I used yellow buttons and now it’s my favorite.
